After the passing of Jay’s grandfather from complications of diabetes, Jay made it a goal to honor his grandfather in anyway. Once in the NFL, Jay made numerous appearances for the ADA in Buffalo and Houston. Every appearance was a learning experience for Jay. And after gaining enough knowledge to create his own purpose, he founded the Foreman Foundation in 2013. The Foreman Foundation is a 501c3 that aims to raise awareness and funds for diabetics.
The Foreman Foundation will host different charity events from bowling, golf tournaments and gala’s to raise money to help the fight against diabetes. These funds help provide grants to organizations locally that can service and reach more people than the Foreman Foundation can by itself. In special cases the Foreman Foundation provides grants to individuals as well. The annual Foreman Foundation 44 Turkey drive provides 44 families with a Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. Every year the goal is to provide more families with a Thanksgiving Dinner.

4th Annual Turkey Drive
For the fourth year in a row, former NFL linebacker and Husker football great Jay Foreman will help bring turkey to the table for those in need this Thanksgiving.
And Foreman is stepping it up once again this year, hoping to hand out 125 to 150 turkeys at the Center for People in Need on Monday, compared to the 100 turkeys handed out last Thanksgiving.
“This is just something I’m passionate about and it’s growing every year,” Foreman said. “Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I want to bring that to people who aren’t as fortunate as me or others.”
“Foreman said he was still working on purchasing the remaining turkeys from area grocery stores on Sunday. He’ll hand them out at the center Monday evening from 4 to 6 p.m.
The center identifies families from the hundreds who come to the center daily to take home a free turkey.
In the first two years of the giveaway, Foreman handed out 44 turkeys, the same number he wore on his jersey as a Huskers linebacker in the 1990s. Foreman was a member of the Huskers’ 1997 and 1995 National Championship teams.
In 2013, he founded the Foreman Foundation, which raises awareness and funds for diabetes research through various charitable events. Foreman has had five family members who have died from diabetic complications.
“We’re excited to help out,” Foreman said. “A turkey dinner is a great thing to have.”
In the four years of doing a turkey giveaway, he said the reactions from the people have created lasting memories.
“The reactions are awesome,” Foreman said. “That’s what kind of inspires me to do it year to year. So I’m definitely looking forward to tomorrow.”
